Businesses in Texas that have less than 25 full-time employees who contribute at least half of the employee only premium can receive a tax credit.  The employees need to average between $25,000 to $50,000 in annual income.  The tax credit will range between 35% to 50% of the premium that is paid by the employer.

Groups in Texas will need to have a “qualifying arrantgement,” “equivalent full time emplyees,” and “average annual wages.”  Employers can go to irs.gov to learn more about qualifying for tax rebates and requirements.

Health Insurance Costs for Employers

July 1st, 2010

A PricewaterhouseCoopers study projects employers medical costs for their employees will increase by at least 9% in 2011.   ProGo Insurance Group is offering health insurance packages to employers of all sizes to help minimize this increase.  Some of the options include multiple options for deductibles, office visits and higher deductibles.  Most of the time employees only use office visit co-pays and their drug card during the year.  We will perform a comprehensive analysis to see if a higher deductible plan where the employer helps an employee meet their deductible will save the company and the employees money.  The study also indicates the new federal law will not help these costs.  We represent several different health insurance companies to get you the best plan at the best price.  Some of the companies include Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Humana.

Reconstruction Cost for Texas Insurance Purposes

July 1st, 2010

Rebuilding costs often exceed the cost for new construction of a building.  Homeowners Insurance coverage and Business Property Insurance policies in Texas should take into affect these costs.  New construction of a building begins at the foundation and builds upward. Repairing an office building, house, warehouse or other structure that is not totally destroyed often means removing walls, the roof, or other parts of a building and rebuilding from the top down which takes more time and more labor.

Older buildings and homes and buildings that have been extensively remodeled in Texas often have customized or unique features and materials not commonly found in homes being built today. These features and materials can be very expensive, if not impossible, to find.

The costs associated with demolition and debris removal increase project cost considerably.  New building construction normally starts with an open lot with some dirt moving or removal and brush clearing.  In the case of fire soil and surrounding area may be contaminated.  A lot of preparation work is required before the first slab  can be poured and the first walls put up.

Construction costs rise after natural disasters. In the wake of a disaster affecting a wide area-wildfires, hail, hurricanes-the costs of building materials and contractor fee’s early always rise sharply in response to the sudden demand. Even without deliberate profiteering this would normally be true because when local supplies have been exhausted materials have to be brought in on an emergency basis, often from mills, factories and suppliers at a great distance. Whenever homes must be rebuilt or repaired at the same time the cost will be higher than normal.

Inflation is also a contributing factor in rebuilding and existing structure.  Material costs and labor cost increase in Texas differently from other sectors in the economy.  Wood products are prone to rise in costs quicker than other materials.

Existing parts of a building need to be protected for security and weather issues. This can involve covering a damaged roof, covering broken windows, or holes in walls.  Any remaining contents should be moved and stored in a more secure area.  There costs associated with this process.
